ABILITY CONNECTION seeks to empower the physically challenged by providing medical treatment and rehabilitation, mobility, job placement, and education. Established as a unit of proVISION ASIA in 1986, ABILITY CONNECTION assists approximately 50 clients per month. Each week clients come to us for counseling and consultation.

Job Placement
The pA Job Placement division helps place disabled individuals into good jobs with fair pay, matching their employment needs. This is a three-step process. First, pA educates employers that disabled people can work just as well as any able bodied person in many different jobs. Second, we train disabled people on the employer expectations and interview skills. Once a candidate is training and matched with an employer, he or she can begin to live a life of independance as earner in their family. Some of our candidates have been placed with companies like Shell Oil, Barista Coffee, Coffee Day, Pizza Hut, M.P.P. Technologies, Easiprocess, and Food World grocery stores.

Computer Training
We offer a 3-month computer course for clients who have completed S.S.L.C. In the course, students develop basic computer skills, learn conversational English, and build typing speed. With the skills gained in the class, these students are eligible for better, higher-paying jobs.

The Rehabilitation Center
The Rehabilitation Center is a bustling new department, created to meet the Physical Therapy needs of our post-surgical patients and other patients in need of such therapy. Currently we offer therapy for polio, paraplegia, hemaplegia, phocomelia, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, osteogenesis imperfecta, spina bifida, and various other rare disorders.
Though our therapy unit is small and still growing, we offer the following services and treatments to our patients:

All of the services and treatments available in the Rehabilitation Center are provided free of cost to our patients, ensuring that our patients receive the great care they so much deserve. The goal of the therapy unit is to provide all physical therapies, mobility aids, and appliances from one place for the holistic development of disabled individuals.

The Prison Project
The Prison Project started in August 2007. Second-hand wheelchair come from the United States and are refurbished at the Bangalore Central Prison by the inmates.
Joni and Friends Intl. collects the second-hand wheelchairs in the United States from individuals who no longer need their wheelchair and sends them to Bangalore. The wheelchairs then go to the Bangalore Central Prison and are restored to a like-new condition by ten inmates. proVISION ASIA then distributes those wheelchairs for free to anyone who needs a wheelchair. Some of the specialty wheelchairs that come from the U.S. are not available in India, and if they were ordered from the U.S. would cost
thousands of dollars. This project is not only benefiting physically disabled people, but it also gives the inmates a sense of purpose and hope and helps with their rehabilitation back into society.
proVISION ASIA's cost for bringing the container of wheelchairs through customs, for restoration materials, and for the inmates salaries is approximately $25.00 per chair (INR 1000.00).
